24-year-old American soprano Emily Pogorelc is currently an ensemble member of the Bayerische Staatsoper, performing as Die Zaunschlüpfer in Walter Braufel’s Die Vögel, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Marzelline in Fidelio, Suor Genoveva in Suor Angelica and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro. In Bergen, she debuts as Servilia in La clemenza di Tito. During her tenure at Ryan Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Ms. Pogorelc performed Masha in Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Spades, Noémie in Massenet’s Cendrillon and die Schleppträgerin in Strauss’s Elektra. Additionally, she covered in Mozart’s Idomeneo, Handel’s Ariodante, Mozart's Don Giovanni, Wagner’s Das Rheingold, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung. In her debut at Washington National Opera and the Kennedy Center, Ms. Pogorelc portrayed Cunégonde in Francesca Zambello’s production of Candide. Other roles include Romilda in Handel’s Xerxes, Johanna Barker in Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd and Berenice in Rossini’s L’occasione fa il ladro at Glimmerglass Festival. Chan Parker, in Charlie Parker's Yardbird in a collaboration with the Apollo Theatre and Opera Philadelphia. At the inaugural Glyndebourne Opera Cup, Ms. Pogorelc was the youngest finalist and the recipient of The Ginette Theano Prize for Most Promising Talent. She is also a Luminarts Fellow of 2020 and also the recipient of the Lynne Cooper Harvey Foundation Award from the Musicians Club of Women. Ms Pogorelc is a recent graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, under the tutelage of Mikael Eliasen and Julia Faulkner
