Biography

Corinne Hayes

Stage director Corinne Hayes has recently created new productions of La rondine for Miami Music Festival, Rigoletto for Mississippi Opera, and Così fan tutte for Winter Opera St. Louis: “Corinne Hayes manages her players wonderfully. Every move is natural, stage pictures are well composed, the chorus is given lovely detail, and every instrumental passage is filled with meaningful physical action.” (Steve Callahan, Broadway World) As an educator, Corinne has collaborated with universities, training programs, and young artist programs across the country; notable engagements include La finta giardiniera with Maryland Opera Studio, Le nozze di Figaro with Miami Music Festival, and Short Works with Central City Opera. Beyond the rehearsal hall, Corinne has presented courses and lectures at the University of Maryland, Temple University, and Webster University. Corinne is committed to presenting music theater that is accessible beyond the walls of the opera house. In 2014, Corinne made her DC debut directing La Verbena de la Paloma at GALA Hispanic Theatre. Corinne has created site-specific productions of David Conte’s The Gift of the Magi and Gershwin's Blue Monday with Marble City Opera in collaboration with beloved Knoxville jazz band The Marble City 5. As an assistant director, Corinne has been honored to work with such esteemed artists as Francesca Zambello (Washington National Opera, Dallas Opera), E. Loren Meeker (Washington National Opera), Ken Cazan (Central City Opera), James Darrah (Opera Philadelphia), and Tito Capobianco (Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia).
