John Park
John Kun Park, a Korean-American Tenor from Los Angeles, California, has been described as “a promising, rich dramatic voice,” and “a tenor voice that floats its high notes with ease and emotional fervor.” John began 2020 with a debut in Southern California as the title role of Faust in Gounod’s Faust with former Center Stage Opera, now Valley Opera & Performing Arts. He appeared as a guest artist with the Palm Springs Opera Guild in concert in March, and was supposed to join Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist this summer, but due to COVID participated in their summer 2020 festival. He was a featured artist in Penn Square Music Festival's "Harmonize Lancaster" virtual program in September, and will be collaborating with Opera San Luis Obispo to create a virtual recital. He has appeared nationally with companies such as Sarasota Opera, Central City Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera*, Pittsburgh Opera Festival, Valley Opera & Performing Arts, West Bay Opera, and Long Beach Opera, appearing in roles such as Don José Carmen, Ismaele Nabucco, Faust Faust, Monostatos Die Zauberflöte, Siegmund Die Walküre, Erste Könige Die Liebe der Danae, Eisenstein Die Fledermaus, Lysander A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Des Grieux Manon, and Anatol Vanessa. He has appeared in concert and have performed as the tenor soloist of Handel’s Messiah, performed as the tenor soloist in Frank Martin’s Le vin herbé, and appeared as B.F. Pinkerton in a concert version of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
