Biography

Alyssa Dessoye

Praised for her “spring-like expression”, and “sweet lyric coloratura” Florida-raised soprano Alyssa Dessoye makes her mark as a rising young artist. She is currently slated as the 2020-2021 soprano Artist in Residence with Pensacola Opera where she will perform roles including Frasquita in Carmen as well as Josephine (cover) in HMS Pinafore. She will also be revisiting the role of Adina in their young artist production of L’elisir d’amore as well as engaging in other virtual student outreach performances. Recently, Ms. Dessoye was seen as an Apprentice Artist with Sarasota Opera for their Winter 2020 season, where she stepped in as a cover for Mimi in Puccini’s La bohème. Prior to this, she debuted the role of Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. She also spent the summer of 2018 with Aspen Music Festival as a fellow singing the role of Giulietta in Les contes d’Hoffmann. Recent performances include Adina in L’elisir d’amore with the Indiana University Opera Theater. While there, she reprised the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and sang the role of Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly. As an avid concert artist, Ms. Dessoye features as the soprano soloist in works such as Handel’s Messiah, Honegger’s King David, Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living, and Faure’s Requiem. Ms. Dessoye holds a Bachelor’s of Music degree from the Florida State University as well as a Master’s Degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
