(He/They, Him/Them) Utah Native Paul Leland Hill began pursuing an MM in Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan, studying with Professor Stanford Olsen 2019. He sang the title character in U of M's production of Don Pasquale in the spring of 2021 and will sing Figaro at Utah Vocal Arts Academy this July. He recently sang the Sodbuster in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up and the Sergeant in La bohême. He has also sung at Opera Neo and Sarasota Opera.

Biography

Paul Hill

Paul Leland Hill is a bass from Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2019, Paul began pursuing a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan, studying with Professor Stanford Olsen and will be graduating in Fall 2021. He took a leave of absence from school to apprentice at Sarasota Opera, covering the sergeant in La bohême. Paul returned to Michigan to sing the Sodbuster in their socially distanced production of Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up and Don Pasquale in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. This summer Paul will be attending the Taos Opera Institute and singing Figaro in Utah Valley Arts Academy’s production of Le nozze di Figaro. Paul received an undergraduate degree in Piano Performance from the University of Utah. After finishing his degree, Paul studied voice with Dr. Seth Keeton and won first place in the avocational division of the Northern Utah NATS competition in 2018 and 2019. Paul sang with the Utah Opera Chorus for four seasons, and portrayed Buoso Donati in Gianni Schicchi in 2018, portraying Buoso’s dead body to enthusiastic applause.
