Mariya Kaganskaya

Russian-American Mezzo-Soprano Mariya Kaganskaya recently created the role of Teacher in the Santa Fe Opera’s world premiere production of The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, the recording of which earned the 2019 GRAMMY Award for Best Opera Recording. Other recent highlights include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Paula (Florencia en el Amazonas), Page (Salome), and Charlotte (cover)/Käthchen (Werther) at Florida Grand Opera, and Tisbe (La Cenerentola) and Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) at Arizona Opera. Other favorite roles include Olga (Eugene Onegin) Hostess (Boris Godunov) Marta (Iolanta), Dorabella (Così fan tutte,) Ottavia (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti), and the title role of Serse. In the 2020-2021 Season, Ms. Kaganskaya premieres the role of Rowan in We Wear the Sea Like a Coat with Opera Ithaca. In the 2019-2020 Season, she made virtual debuts with Baltimore Concert Opera, Bronx Opera, and PROJECT [BLANK]. Upcoming appearances include a debut as the Mezzo soloist in Verdi’s Requiem. Recent awards include First Place in the Lois Alba Aria Competition, the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the St. Petersburg Opera Guild Competition, and the Gershwin International Competition, Second Place in the Holt Competition, and Third Place in the Edward M. Murray International Competition of Voice and the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition. She is a Winner of the most recent Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Foundation Competition and the inaugural Butler Opera International Competition, as well as the Pasadena Opera Guild Competition and the San Francisco District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
