Allegra De Vita was recently seen as Maddalena in Rigoletto at Tulsa Opera, Angelina in La Cenerentola at Dayton Opera, and title role in Carmen with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. She was scheduled to perform Rinaldo at The Glimmerglass Festival. She is an alum of the Washington National Opera Cafritz Program and the Academy of Vocal Arts. Ms. De Vita was a 2015 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Grand Finalist.

Biography

Allegra De Vita

Allegra De Vita, a mezzo-soprano from Trumbull, Connecticut, was recently seen as Maddalena in Rigoletto at Tulsa Opera. She was scheduled to sing the role of Rinaldo in Rinaldo at the Glimmerglass Festival. This past year she was seen as Angelina in La Cenerentola at Dayton Opera, The Page in Salome at The Spoleto Festival, Siebel in Faust at Washington National Opera, the title role in Carmen with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. As a 2018 graduate from the Washington National Opera’s Cafritz Young Artist Program she was seen as Rosina in The Barber of Seville (Emerging Artist Performance), Tebaldo in Don Carlo, Taller Zegner Sister in Provin’ Up, and Ruggiero in Alcina (Emerging Artist Performance). She was also seen as Tancredi in Erminia with Opera Lafayette, Olga in Eugene Onegin with Syracuse Opera and Isaura and Tancredi cover in Tancredi with Opera Philadelphia. Ms. De Vita spent three summers at the Glimmerglass Festival performing the roles Pippo in La Gazza Ladra, Fulvio in the American premier of Cato in Utica and Arsamenes in Xerxes. Ms. De Vita was a 2015 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Grand Finalist. She was a resident artist at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, PA, where she performed the role of Charlotte in Werther and Zerlina in Don Giovanni. She earned her Masters Degree in vocal performance at Rice University studying with Dr. Stephen King, and a at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and a BA magna cum laude in biology from Sacred Heart University with a neuroscience concentration.
