Hannah Friesen

Canadian-American soprano Hannah Friesen is an active performer and music educator newly based in Philadelphia. Past roles include Frasquita (Carmen), Iris (Semele), Susanna (le Nozze) Des Moines Metro Opera Scenes, Harriet (Emmeline), Clorinde (Cendrillon), Genovieffa (Suor Angelica) with Manhattan School of Music, Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) with Janeic Opera Company at BMC, Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Le Feu (L'Enfant et les Sortilège) with Simpson College Opera, Fiona (Brigadoon), and Mrs. Nordstrom (A Little Night Music) with the College Light Opera Company. Competitions include Metropolitan Opera Guild Career Bridges Young Artist Grant Winner, Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition Winner. Concert work includes Bernstein's Mass with Brevard Music Center, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with Des Moines Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Friesen holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Simpson College and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She studies with Elizabeth de Trejo in Philadelphia. Ms. Friesen is an elementary music teacher and has her own vocal studio.
