Biography

Hailey Cohen

Ms. Cohen made her University of Michigan main stage debut as Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. She continues engaging audiences at Michigan through the universities Opera Workshop program, where she has performed the roles of Beth (Little Women), Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), and Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro). Ms. Cohen was recognized as a finalist for the Opera Grand Rapids Collegiate Competition and the Harold Haugh Light Opera Competition.Recent credits include Littler Sister in the University of Michigan production of Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up and Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice. Ms. Cohen completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan where she received her Bachelors in Music in voice performance. She continued her studies at University of Michigan as a candidate for a Masters of Music in voice performance, studying with Dr. Caroline Helton. Along with operatic repertoire, Ms. Cohen has a love for contemporary music. The summer of 2019 she interned as a production assistant for the innovative Resonant Bodies Festival and aided its mission to support the growth and evolution of contemporary vocal music. Ms. Cohen works with Opera MODO as a part of its marketing and development team where she continues to support making opera accessible in the greater Detroit area. She has previously Worked for LoftOpera in Brooklyn, and is excited to be back in Brooklyn (virtually) working with the development team at National Sawdust. Ms. Cohen can be seen practicing yoga, reading thrillers and drinking coffee.
