Biography

Sara Kennedy

With a unique voice that shimmers "like iridescent copper,” Sara Kennedy is an emerging soprano based in Dallas, TX who specializes in both classical and musical theatre repertoire. Sara is known for her commanding stage presence and her powerful interpretations of Mozart’s heroines. In November 2020, she made her debut in the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with UNT Opera as well as making her debut with the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra in December. Other recent opera credits include Donnna Anna (Don Giovanni), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte). in 2019, Sara won her division at the Texoma NATS Conference and was a winner of the 2019-2020 UNT College of Music Concerto Competition. In 2018, Sara was invited to the Czech Republic where she coached her role of the Fox in Cunning Little Vixen at the Janáček Acadamy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and made her international debut in Olomouc as a soloist in the Pergolesi Stabat Mater with the Ensemble Damian. Sara has also been a featured soloist in the University of North Texas’s College of Music Opera Gala and Wingspan Gala where she performed with Tony-nominated actress, Carmen Cusack. A recipient of the Bill and Margot Winspear Opera Scholarship, Sara is currently pursuing a Graduate Artist Certificate in Opera at the University of North Texas. She holds a BM in Music Education and an MM in Vocal Performance (University of North Texas).
