Biography
This season, soprano Sylvia D’Eramo joins the prestigious Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. During the summer, she will make her European debut as Mimì in La bohème with Verbier Festival's Atelier Lyrique under the baton of James Gaffigan. During the spring and summer of 2020 Ms. D’Eramo was scheduled to join the East Texas Symphony Orchestra as Gabriel in Haydn’s Creation, Aspen Opera Theatre as Rosasharn in The Grapes of Wrath, and the Britt Festival Orchestra as the Soprano Soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Unfortunately, those contracts were canceled due to the outbreak of Covid-19. In the 2019 season, Sylvia returned to Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist, where she sang Barena in Jenůfa and covered Mimì in La bohème. After Santa Fe Sylvia joined the Los Angeles Opera as a Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist where she covered Mimì in La bohème and sang Fosforo in Landi’s La morte d’Orfeo. In November of 2019 Sylvia made her company and role debut with Lyric Opera Kansas City as Musetta in La bohème. In the 2018 season, Sylvia joined Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist, singing Cugina in Madama Butterfly, and performed Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, both with Yale Opera. In concert, she joined the Yale Philharmonia for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony under the baton of Maestro Marin Alsop. Sylvia can be heard on Albany Record’s recording of The Crucible by Robert Ward, singing the role of Abigail Williams. She was a national semi-finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
