Most recently, she was the winner of an Encouragement Award in the Lyra New York Mozart Competition, a finalist in the Vermont Vocal Competition, and originated the role of Josephine in the New York premiere of Valenti & Luftig's Story of an Hour with Gramercy Opera. She is also scheduled to perform the role of Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Wichita Grand Opera in the spring. While in quarantine, Ms. Strout sang Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro with Social Distance Opera, and will be taking on the role of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in their upcoming season. Sable is a past participant of young artist programs at Opera on the James and Charlottesville Opera, holds degrees from the University of Southern Maine and Wichita State University, and is a former prize winner of the prestigious Lillian Nordica Memorial Scholarship Award, annually granted to a singer, pursuing higher musical education in Maine, with exceptional ability and extraordinary promise.
