Biography

Kaylee Nichols

With performances hailed as “stellar”, “energetic,” and “excellent,” mezzo-soprano Kaylee Nichols is an artist to watch. In the 2019-2020 season, she made role debuts such as Mercedes in Carmen with Chattanooga Symphony & Opera and Maddalena in Rigoletto with Opera Project Columbus. She also joined Nashville Opera as a member of the Mary Ragland Emerging Artist Program. During her residency, Ms. Nichols debuted roles such as the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Angie in Pepito, and Mrs. Grose in Turn of the Screw. In the summer of 2020, Kaylee was accepted as an Active Participant in the Dandelion Opera Institute and Fort Worth Opera’s Masterclass Series and Virtual Audition Intensive with Jennifer Rowley. In 2021, Kaylee will continue her season with Nashville Opera, reprising her role as Maddalena in Rigoletto. Next summer, she will be joining the roster of Central City Opera as a member of the Bonfils-Stanton Artist Training Program. She will be covering the title role in Dido and Aeneas and singing Giovanna in the family performance of Rigoletto. Other operatic roles include Jo March in Little Women, Secretary & Vera Boronel in The Consul, La Suora Zelatrice in Suor Angelica, La Madre di Mariuccia in I due Timidi, Zerlina in #UncleJohn, Eduige in Rodelinda, Marcellina & Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, and Tessa in The Gondoliers. Ms. Nichols is a graduate of McGill University (M.M.) and Lee University (B.M.E. & B.M. Vocal Performance). She currently studies with Jennifer Rowley as well as Karl Resnik at Musical Arts Center.
