Alina Tamborini has been praised for her “luxurious” voice (Broadway World), “clear high notes and plush low ones” (Oberon’s Grove), and “flowing legato line coupled with sublime tonal qualities” (Operawire). She is establishing herself as a versatile musician, frequently performing both operatic and contemporary classical repertoire. Alina appeared most recently with Teatro Nuovo, singing the role of Isoletta in Bellini’s La straniera at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Rose Theatre. She was a part of the inaugural season of Teatro Nuovo, preparing the roles of Zerlina and Servilia. Past summer engagements include Opera in the Ozarks, singing Frasquita in Carmen and Mrs. Hayes in Susannah, and the Vancouver International Song Institute. In 2016, she made her international debut in a Bernstein Revue at the Peking National Opera House. Her operatic roles with Michigan State University Opera Theatre include: Despina in Così fan tutte, Romilda in Serse, Miss Lavish in A Room With a View, and Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore. At Stony Brook, she has sung the roles of Céphise in Pigmalion, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Aminta in Il re Pastore. Last season, Alina placed third in the Talents of the World International Voice Competition and was a semi-finalist for the Annapolis Opera Competition, Camille Coloratura Awards, MIOpera Competition, and Lyra Mozart Competition. Previously, Alina won the Elaine Malbin and Mario Lanza Competition, placed first in The North International Music Competition, and was a finalist for the Harold Haugh Light Opera Vocal Competition.
